Plant Sizing Guide
To ensure transparency and help you choose the right plant for your setup, we size our nursery stock based on leaf span, pitcher height, and rhizome specs. Because carnivorous plants grow in distinct seasonal patterns, these measurements reflect healthy, active growth standards.
1. Venus Flytraps (Dionaea muscipula)
Flytrap sizing is measured by overall rosette diameter.
SizeRosette DiameterPlant Description & MaturitySmall1.5" – 2"Young Plant: Established division or young plant with rapid juvenile growth.Medium2" – 3"Sub-Adult: Fits comfortably in a standard 2.5" pot; displaying cultivar-specific traits (color, teeth shape).Large3" – 4"+Mature Adult: Flowering-size plant with fully developed, color-intense traps that fill a 3.5" pot.
2. Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia)
Sarracenia sizes are measured by a combination of rhizome diameter and overall pitcher height.

Important Sizing Notes for Buyers
Bare-Root Delivery: All plants are shipped bare-root with roots safely wrapped for humidity. They will immediately expand and fill out once potted in your moist bog soil.
Winter Dormancy Notice: Sarracenia and Venus Flytraps naturally die back or produce low-growing rosette leaves during winter dormancy (late autumn through early spring). Plants ordered during this period are healthy, resting rhizomes that will shoot up fresh foliage in spring!
Succulent Phase (Pinguicula): Mexican butterworts form smaller, non-carnivorous succulent rosettes during winter dry periods. Size measurements above apply to their carnivorous summer state.
