Sarracenia x Barba Green

from $25.00

Sarracenia x Barba Green is a standout selection for growers who love vivid, high-contrast chartreuse tones in their carnivorous plant collection. Producing clean, upright trumpet pitchers, this cultivar is distinguished by its crisp, lime-green coloration that shines in full sun without heavy dark veining distracting from its silhouette. The ruffled hood catches the light beautifully, framing a clean, well-defined peristome (lip). Robust and fast-growing, Barba Green makes a stunning color-block accent alongside darker red and purple Sarracenia varieties in any bog garden or patio container.

Care Instructions:

  • Light:Full outdoor sun (6+ hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight daily). Maximum light keeps the chartreuse coloration bright and pitch-perfect without causing traps to flop.

  • Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only. Keep the pot sitting continuously in a shallow tray of water throughout spring, summer, and fall.

  • Soil: A 4:1 mix of pure peat moss and perlite. Never use standard potting soil or added fertilizers.

  • Temperature & Hardiness: Heat and cold-hardy (USDA Zones 6–9). Easily tolerates hot summer temperatures up to 95°F+.

  • Winter Dormancy: Required. Demands a 3–4 month cool resting period between 32°F–50°F during winter. Pitchers will naturally turn brown and die back while the underground rhizome rests until spring growth begins.

Shipping Information:

  • Bare-Root Delivery: All carnivorous plants are shipped bare-root (no soil or container) to keep shipping safe and affordable.

  • Cold Weather Shipping: A 72-Hour Heat Pack is required if daytime or nighttime temperatures in your area are below 40°F. Orders shipped to freezing regions without a heat pack cannot be guaranteed against cold damage.

  • Winter Dormancy Note: Sarracenia shipped during winter dormancy will have old or dying pitchers trimmed down prior to packaging.
