Pinguicula pirouette
A highly popular cultivar, Pinguicula 'Pirouette' is celebrated for its lush, compact form and soft pink-to-cream coloration. Its rounded, succulent-like leaves form a perfect rosette that glisten with sticky digestive dew, making it an effortless and elegant solution for capturing fungus gnats and fruit flies indoors. Under bright lighting, its pastel hues intensify, creating a lovely contrast with its bright pink blooms.
Care Instructions:
Light: Bright indirect light to moderate direct sun, or high-intensity LED grow lights (strong lighting brings out rich pink and cream foliage tones).
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (tap water minerals burn the root system). Keep soil damp during its active summer growing phase using a shallow water tray.
Soil: A mix of equal parts pumice, perlite, coarse sand, and peat. Never use standard potting soil or fertilizers.
Temperature & Hardiness: Prefers 65°F–82°F. Subtropical (USDA Zones 10–11)—grow indoors year-round as a windowsill or terrarium specimen.
Dry Succulent Phase (Dormancy): In winter as days shorten, it transitions into a dry resting phase. The plant forms a small, dense rosette of non-sticky succulent leaves. During this period, stop tray watering and allow the soil to dry out between light surface waterings until spring growth returns.
Shipping Information:
Bare-Root Delivery: All carnivorous plants are shipped bare-root (no soil or container) to keep shipping safe and affordable.
Cold Weather Shipping: A 72-Hour Heat Pack is required if daytime or nighttime temperatures in your area are below 40°F. Orders shipped to freezing regions without a heat pack cannot be guaranteed against cold damage.
