Drosera binata "Fork Leaf Sundew"
Drosera binata, or ‘Fork Leaf Sundew,’ is native to Australia and New Zealand. Unlike typical rosette-style sundews, this species grows striking, multi-pronged leaves that fork into dramatic "V" or "Y" shapes. Each slender tip is lined with hundreds of glistening, dew-covered tentacles designed to trap fungus gnats, fruit flies, and small insects on contact.
Care Instructions:
Light: Full sun to high-intensity grow lights (4–6+ hours direct light for vibrant color and maximum dew).
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (no tap water!) Keep the pot in a shallow saucer or tray of water during spring and summer.
Soil: 4:1 mix of pure peat moss and perlite. No fertilizers or regular potting soil.
Temperature & Hardiness: Ideal summer range is 68°F–90°F. Hardy down to 28°F in USDA Zones 8–11; foliage may die back in light freezes, but roots re-sprout strong in spring.
Dormancy: Undergoes a mild winter rest as daylight shortens. Growth stops or dies back into a tight bud—simply keep the soil barely damp (not flooded) until warmer spring weather triggers rapid growth.
Shipping Information:
Bare-Root Delivery: All carnivorous plants are shipped bare-root (no soil or container) to keep shipping safe and affordable.
Cold Weather Shipping: A 72-Hour Heat Pack is required if daytime or nighttime temperatures in your area are below 40°F. Orders shipped to freezing regions without a heat pack cannot be guaranteed against cold damage.
